Commercial Upholstery Services — Why Store-Bought Furniture Won't Cut It!

When it comes to the furniture in your restaurant, hotel, school, or office it’s essential to balance function and style. You want to create or maintain your design aesthetic, but you also need furniture that is durable and easy to clean. If your current furniture isn’t holding up, consider upgrading with our commercial upholstery services. Or have us build custom furniture for you!

Why Store-Bought Furniture Won’t Work?

As beautiful as it may be, store-bought furniture is designed for light use. The fabrics will wear quickly in commercial settings, aren’t stain resistant, and aren’t typically easy to sanitize. The cushions won’t provide adequate support long-term, and the decorative embellishments are likely to fall off. Not to worry though, as you can achieve the stylized look you are going for by reupholstering your existing furniture with commercial textiles.

Can I Reupholster My Existing Commercial Furniture?

If it’s time to rebrand or redecorate your business, give your furniture a second life by reupholstering it. This is an excellent option when you want to upgrade to a more modern color, pattern, or print. It’s also an option for commercial textiles that aren’t holding up well in the COVID-era of bleach and alcohol-based cleaners. Finally, reupholstering is a way to optimize your budget. Instead of reinvesting in a new $15,000 commercial sectional, have your current sectional reupholstered for a fraction of the price.

What Makes Fabric Commercial Grade?

Commercial grade textiles are high-performance textiles that are designed for extensive daily use. They may also be chemically treated to be antimicrobial. If they aren’t chemically treated, they are designed to maintain their beauty with daily cleaning. Most are made from synthetic fibers or multi-fiber blends with high “double rub” capabilities.

How Many Double Rubs For Commercial Upholstery?

Double rub is the measurement used to determine how durable a fabric is. One back and forth motion constitutes a double rub. Residential textiles have a double rub of between 25,000 and 50,000. This is how many times you can rub it before it will wear or tear. Commercial textiles must start at 30,000 to last a reasonable amount of time.

What Is Considered Grade 3 Commercial Upholstery?

To ensure you are making an informed decision, be sure to ask how many double rubs a textile has before you invest. Here are the 3 grades for commercial textiles.

  1. General Contract Upholstery – 30,000 to 50,000 double rubs
  2. Heavy Duty Upholstery – 55,000 to 75,000 double rubs
  3. Extreme Wear Upholstery – 80,000 to 100,000+ double rubs

What Are My Commercial Textile Options In Color, Style, And Texture?

Here’s where things get fun as your options are endless! If you want it, we can order it. This includes commercial textiles in countless:

  • Colors
  • Patterns
  • Prints
  • Design styles
  • Faux finishes

What do we mean by faux finish? Synthetic fabrics that look like everything from leather to velvet, linen, and more.

Why Have Commercial Furniture Custom-Built?

In addition to reupholstering your existing furniture, we can custom-build pieces on your behalf. You know how steep the prices are for commercial furniture, so sometimes it costs less to have it built!

Some of the top reasons for a custom-build include:

  1. Replicating store-bought furniture in commercial textiles.
  2. Having us build a retro, vintage, or standout piece.
  3. You require special measurements to fit your space.
  4. You want something completely unique built from scratch.
  5. You want to change the shape of an existing piece.
  6. And more!
